Installed this screen in my car a few today . Pretty much trouble shot every thing imaginable. Would like other people thoughts; Here are my problems.

1) Unit itself shuts off and on if played over 30, top volume on this unit is 35.

2) when i turn the car off , my subs make a popping noise.

I've tried everything. Re-grounding the unit, new RCA, running just the unit to see if my sub issue was making the unit shut off and on. Wierd thing too is if i remove all ground from the deck/tunner the unit still turns on and the screen still comes out even though its not getting grounded anywhere, also the remote and power antenna wires see no power unless i have the RCA plugged in. I am talking with the Kenwood people on monda y, but these problems are driving my crazy. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

sounds like you connected your power wires to something you'r not soposed to.  Check your red and yellow wires.  Make sure everything is wired correctly.  Keep us posted on what the kenwood people told you.

Finally got my new screen back from Kenwood. Hooked it back up. everthing still that same. Subs still popped when unit was turned off and still shuts off when at high volume.

Rechecked all connection yet again, tried new RCA new turn on wire, still the same. After about another 2 hours of trouble shooting finally figured out why the subs would pop. On my JL500.1 there is a signal sense switch, If you dont want to run a turn on and just use RCA. Switched that off and my subs stopped popping when the unit is turned off.

As for the unit itself turning off i think i have that figured out as well. Heres what i figured out. If i unplugged my subs and just have my speakers on i can turn it up with no problem. Once i plug my subs back in the voltage in the car drop at high volume. I take it that the voltage isnt enough to keep the Kenwood on. I'll try adding a cap to my amp. Was just going to run a wire 8 ga to the battery for the headunit and the inverter im addin for my PS2. Will try cap first. Also i have a Optima Yellow top battery.
