Kenwood KNA-DV4100 no SAT signal?

  I just installed the new double din in dash kenwood touchscreen monitor, and the 4100 Navigation unit. My problem is that the screen shows that I am in New York, but I am actually in Las Vegas! I have the correct "WEST"  disk in the unit, and have pushed the reset button, and driven all over town all day. It still shows I am in New York.

  If you go into "NAV SETUP", and view the vehical settings, it will show that the parking brake is working, the illumiation wire is correct,  the reverse hookup is OK, the VSS speed sensor shows miles per hour, and it is pretty close to being correct.   But, I am getting a big ZERO for the GPS signal.  It does show the default Long/Lat which is why I suppect the unit thinks it is in New York.

I have the attenna mounted on the front dash, and the Nav unit is under the rear seat.  My old Garmin unit could receive a signal from within my truck, sitting on the dash. In my efforts to fix this, I moved the antenna outside to the roof of my truck, still with no luck. I removed the back seat, and verified that the attenna cable was still plugged in.

  Anyone have any ideas as to what I need to do now?  The only other thing, that may be a problem, is the last two days we have had heavy cloud cover, and rain. My sat. TV works just fine all day long, so I figured the GPS would be OK.  I will be waiting for a sunny day.....

the 4100 doesn't have any adjustment screws as it's gyroscope is auto-adjusting no matter how you mount the unit.  in the nav setup screen in the main menu you can find a calibration sub-menu.  you can calibrate position and direction here.  back the vechicle out of the install bay and try to calibrate. next kenwood recommends you drive 5-10 miles on the straightest road possible to finish the adjustments to the system.

cloud cover should have no affect on your gps signal.  if youre getting the signal there should be a little satellite icon in the top left corner of the nav screen.

 Thanks for your help. Even Kenwood, gave me the run around, promising to call me back, three times. I waited and recalled them twice, and on the third time I gave up.

  The only thing that made since was that the antenna was bad. I couln't be sure, without  removing the antenna, and pulling out the wire from all the door jams, dash, and carpet. Sure enough, I had pinched the antenna wire with the driver side door jam sill plate. I was so careful, with all the wires I ran under the carpet, through the head liner, behind the dash, ect. I couldn't believe I missed this wire.  It was my fault, and now the Nav unit works great, and I am getting 6-7 sat's as viewed out my front window, while sitting oin the dash. :)
