Linc Navi Question

I have a customer with a 2003 Lincoln Navigator with a built in navigation system up front and a all in one flip down tv in the rear.  I wanted to ask about the possibility of connecting the flip down unit to the navigation so the driver and passenger could watch tv via the navigation screen up front.

Is this possible?  Please advise and thanks in advance

To get the vid signal into the NAV unit go here and scroll to the bottom....

To get the signal out of the factory unit you will have to get me the make and model of the DVD unit in the back.

I just finished a 05 Tahoe doing the same thing you are talking about...All I had to do was to solder the center pin wire of an RCA to one pin on the DVD player and Then attach the Wire shielding of the RCA to the case of the DVD player....

You can probally do the same...

Let me make sure that I understand. 

I can use the PAC VCI-FRD1 to send the video signal from the flip down to the NAV unit.  The only problem I see with this is that the PAC VCI-FRD1 set up for a reverse camera.  I would likely install a switch that the driver could hit when they want to watch TV on the NAV to bypass this issue.  Make sense ???

I have not seen the overhead flip down unit, but this process become very simple if it has a video output.  I see that you got creative with the Tahoe.  It did not have a video output?

Correct...The VCI-FRD1 is "FOR A BACK UP CAMERA (sarcasm)" but all it has is an RCA Jack for input....

So hypothetically if someone wanted they could send any RCA video signal into the VCI....If its like the VCI-GM2 That I used on the Tahoe it has a power a ground and a remote turn on(not used) and a small switch to turn it on and off....

The Tahoe DVD did not have a video out put but another member on here had already gotten video out of it and gave me the pin out code....It was very simple...

With the tahoe I put a 4in 1out switch...A secondary DVD....And a PS2....You can play anything on either monitor...

Thanks for the information.  I have not seen the vehicle yet, but I just spoke to the customer and told him that I would need to verify that the flip down has a video output signal that could be used. 

This may seem like a silly question, but are there any additional alternatives?  I may have scared him off with the cost of the PAC VCI-FRD1.

If there is an alternative I havent found one that is easy as the pac....It doesnt damage the HU in anyway and dont tell him but it takes about 5 mins to convert (At least mine did)...

All it was is a single ribbon cable on the inside pulled that out the PAC came with a ribbon cable replaced the one you took and it was done....Ran the cable to the box powered it and DONE

So basically you have something that sounds really complicated and is easy as hell...So you could cut him a deal on the install price and make him think he is getting a good deal even though the price of the PAC is a little high...

Thats what I did on my install...

There are some other companies that "COPIED" the Pac converter and are cheaper...But from what I read and Now what I have seen...I wouldnt trust them to be as high quality as the pac...
