here is what i am going to do/want to do.
indash dvd monitor..
monitor in each headrest for backseat. 2 total...
xbox for back seat only...

The indash dvd player will supply video and such to all monitors in the car, but i want the option to run the xbox on either 1 of the headrest monitors or both of them.  use headphones for sound for xbox.  what type of rear monitors will i need, ie: inputs or will i need something else?

thanks for the help.

You will need to get a switching unit for the rear monitors....

AT LEAST A 2 Input 1 Output you can get one that handles more but that will suffice this will allow you to select between X-Box and DVD.....depending on the swirtching unit you may have to get an RCA Y Adapter to split the video to the two monitors from the switch

OR You can get a 2In 2Out....Then Each of the rear monitors will be able to select independantly between DVD and X-Box(This is what I would do just for the cool Factor)...

if you havent bought the headrest monitors yet make sure that they are IR Readdy (Infrared) then all you will have to do is get IR headpohones and your good to go./

well i have deceided at this point to get some clarion VMA7194 (comments welcome). My only question is that they come with a universal headrest mounting kit, which i am pretty sure i do not want because I want to mount them in the headrest of my car. But i have not seen any info pertaining to mounting in a headrest with out the mount bracket....any ideas???

What is your car??? Make Model Year....Some companies make hearests with the monitors pre-installed...They cost a little more but the look and quality cant be beaten

Here is an example of what I am talking about.... http://www.crutchfield.com/S-weXkETl17E7/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=203950&I=030A007DCH

If there is one for your car I would recoment this as a Definite option.....Maybe not this brand but something like this...I have never used visualogic....The kit comes with the headrest, the monitors (Preinstalled) They are IR ready...It also comes with 2 sets of IR headphone...A Switching unit so that the monitors can have independant sources....

Pretty good deal once you consider buying the LCDs...Having the Headrests cut and installed...Buying the Switch and the IR headphones...Not too bad of a price...I will see if I can find some clarion stuff like this

also I forgot Audiovox has a Headrest LCD monitor with the DVD player built in to it

Also they have those with a complete pacage .....The LCD/DVD monitors in custom made headrests and all the trimmings....I havent used them but they look cool...Here is the CATALOGUE to see if your vehicle is on the list

If you decide not to go custom headrest...Here is a good switch you may be able to look around and find a better deal this is just the first switch I came by... Directed makes pretty good Video Equipment

Oh and one more thing...(I know these posts are unorganized but its late here SORRY)

If you do want to use the Clarion LCD You can find headrest replacements with Just the Monitor buckets preinstalled..Then you can load them with whatever monitor you want...OR If you can find a reputable Car audio shop that can cut head rests that is always an option...

thanks for the info, my car is a 2005 Chevy Equinox w/ cloth interior.
The headrest already installed are nice but a little bit more than I am looking to spend. I am looking somewhere about half or a little more. The reason i say clarion is because they have the IR in them all i need is the headphones. but i won't need them yet because my son is only 6 months right now.
