I recently installed and purchased a Eclipse AVN5435 head unit and the IPC-106 Ipod adapter. I have not heard back from Eclipse yet and was wondering if someone had some experience with these that could help me out.
After hooking up the adapter through network link and setting the two switches correctly I am only able to get the sound of the Ipod automatically playing when it is first plugged in. None of the buttons work and I don't receive "CDCHNG1", "CDCHNG2", or "SIRIUS" buttons on the screen.
The manual says check the connections, but those cables have click pins so that you make sure you get the connections made accurately.
Am I required to route the Ipod adapter through the SIRIUS box first (which I haven't hooked up yet)? Do the "CDCHNG1", "CDCHNG2", and "SIRIUS" buttons show up on the source menu only when a valid source is found?
Anyone help me out here?
Thanks

I'm not sure that the Ipod adaptor is compatible with the 5435.  I checked the Eclipse web site and it doesn't list it.  As for the icons being displayed, they don't show up unless it is connected.

I thought about it not being compatible too...
If it isn't, then why is it listed in the IPC-106 product guide that you have control functions through the AVN5435?
Since the IPC 106 talks through CDChanger commands I would think that any head unit that has a CD changer input would be compatible...
Oh well, I'm baffled....
Maybe its just time to take it back (the IPC-106, not the 5435)

hi,

did you adjust the two slide switches on the side of IPC-106.  I'm pretty sure the default settings won't work.  When you have the correct setting, I think the adapter shows up as a source you didn't have before i.e. a new valid source as you mentioned.  you may need to disconnect/reconnect power to the 5435 and the 106 for the new settings to be valid.

hope this helps

I did toggle the switches but I am just confused on what the correct settings for the 5435 on the IPC106 should be. I did toggle the switches, but I did so repeatedly after the power was on the 5435.
I will run through all combos:
BB
AB
BA
AA
disconnecting the battery each time... I'll let you know.
Thx for the tip...

A little update here...
Well, I couldn't set up the switches right meaning no CD Changer control, so I hooked up the SIRIUS unit and now the SIRIUS source shows up but no CDChanger.
Weird part is that as stated, the SIRIUS and IPOD can't be used to the same time. It is always trying to find an IPOD that is not connected or plays both the satellite and ipod at the same time.
I did disconnect the satellite cable and left the ipod adapter connected. now the SIRIUS satellite function stays up and I can control the ipod through it.
I'm wondering if there is some sort of software or firmware upgrade for the 5435 to fix this as maybe I have a older 5435 that was produced before the IPC-106 came out.

Ok, finally got ahold of an actual eclipse tech today, and low and behold I was misled by the dip switch settings in the manual. I was told to run it in CDChanger mode, I needed to remove the adapter from its power source, then change the settings so that both switches were in the "A" position.
Unplugged the unit, flipped the switches, and presto, all things working as they should now....
Thanks for the help everyone in trying to solve this issue.
