I'm trying to install a DDX8017 (this is a double din cd/dvd reciver with build in monitor) on a 2003 Toyota Celica GT with factory amplified JBL speakers. This is the first time installing any type of mobile video but I'm having trouble with the DVD playback. I figured I could just connect the wire that is suppose to go to the e-brake to any power source, however the receiver still regesters as if e-brake was not connected.
Is it possible to connect this wire to any power source or is there something special about the e-brake connection. If so does anybody know were i can tap into it and what color it is.

There is nothing special per say about the ebrake wire connection, it is simply a safety feature.
