1991 Jeep Cherokee, Compustar CM900

I looked here, I looked at Bulldog, I've looked at jeep forums, I've downloaded the master install guide, etc... I've spent weeks looking and reading so that when I did the install I wouldn't have any issues. However, the remotes don't seem to work (they probably do and it is my wiring). My understanding is the remotes are preprogrammed to the module. I have the compustar 920S kit. So, did I miss anything with the wire intallation. I bought the DM600 (CN-4) for the positive door locks.. I have bolded the wires I connected. Any feedback or help would be appreciated. The wiring looks good. The only wire I'm not certain about is your CN1 Black Chassis Ground connection. From your symptoms, think I would connect that Black wire directly to a clean, rust free solid frame location with a soldered on terminal ring. Yes, the remotes should come pre-paired with the CM900-s controller. Just double check the antenna harness connectors, etc.   If that doesn't help, the next step would be to try and pair the remotes. Pretty easy, just follow the steps in the install guide. You should hear a relay click inside the CM900-s controller during the process. I would connect the Tach wire and run in Tach Mode. Adding the Hood Pin switch is a good idea for safety.Soldering is fun!

Thanks for the reply Kreg, I'll double check the antenna connection and the remotes are linked after work. I have plans to add the pin switch (if I used the (-) side of the under hood light, vs the switch, would that work?). The module is auto sense for tach, and requires a change to option 2-10. Can this be done through the remote? Does anyone have steps for that? I like the idea of a hard wire vs the auto sense, just not sure it is worth hooking up if I can't change the options group anyway. thanks again __________ooooo

If the under hood light is turned on by a (-) signal then that would work. Yes the Tach Mode option can be changed via the remotes. The programming change procedure is detailed in the CM900 Install Guide. Here is a link: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=1428. In cold weather Tach Mode works best. I would also change the Chassis Ground connection to the vehicles frame.Soldering is fun!

the key fobs that com with the RS? compustar key fobs are not pre programed to the brain. You have to do the ignition on off.. ignition on off.. ignition on off.. ignition on off.. ignition on and leave on then push the lock button on first remote (lights should flash) lock button on second remote (lights should flash) then turn the ignition off33 years as a installer now just a retired old guy. Favorite thing to install/topic are remote starts/car alarms. Stop using test lights!!!

Thanks, gentlemen! I checked the antenna, all connections were solid.   I programmed the remotes using the method mgoetz outlined. It worked, locks and remote start. I do have the ground on the chasis. I'll get the tach hard-wired and the safety for the hood done. If I have further questions, I'll post back. Truly appreciate the help! Derek __________ooooo
