I will check it out in the morning asap and let you know what i figure out. Very helpful information guys i apprecite it. chevy truck radio battery - Page 2 -- posted image.

alright i tested the dark brown wire and it doesnt have power when key is off and it does when the key is on so i take it the ignition is fine. As for the radio, the yellow wire has power when key is on and no power when it is off. The orange wire has power all the time. So it still could be a short in the radio maybe? The grey wire is the illumination and the brown is the dimmer right..so the grey wire runs the clock? it doesnt have power in it with key on or off.

if the yellow wire is dead with the key off, you have an issue with the radio

ya i took the radio apart and cut the wires that go to the clock. In order to put a different radio in it i would have to take it to the dealer so they can reset the theftlock i guess. Clock is out now so i will see if the batteries stay charged up overnight. I will probably need new batteries anyway because they have been drained and recharged so many times.
