POIDT001.IDX----POIDT028.IDX  are used for street address indexes

POIDT029.IDX---POIDT042.IDX are freeway indexes

POIDT043 are your point of interest files.

I see now the diference between the formats of the old and new dvd's.  The new version will be much faster due to the way the index files are made. The index files have their records more compact as they have much space removed when compared to the old version.  You can see the difference by comparing the old and new "INDEXDAT.KWI" files.

I did waste a DL dvd.  The nav would work, but I had to be within 5 miles of intended destination for it to map properly.  I copied the IDX folder carrying all the nav guidance indexes from the 50 series disc to the 40 series ver1.2 and will see when I go to work today if that works.

Woah, i had no idea that website existed. I searched high and low before I created AVIC411.com. Now it's going to look like I ripped off AVICX1Forums.com. Oh well.

The X1 is the european version tho, no?  Does that change anything for the US versions of hardware/software?

Also, no answer yet to whether or not I can get the AVIC Z1 into my 2000 Expedition, anyone have the right answer?

And last, I'm 90+% on the 50MT East disc, 20-something on the West.  I'll try to get the files hosted as soon as I'm finished getting them.

Hey guys. I have been running the 40MT discs version 1.2
Pioneer sent me a few updates, but this is the most recent disc. If I call pioneer will they send me the 50MT discs or will I have to pay for them?

Gotta pay for them.  If you are going to do that, you may as well buy the CNDV60 so you have the most recent

Ok. I was under the impression that we dont yet know if the news V60 discs will operate in the older AVIC's? My understanding is that if I purchase the 50MT discs, this will upgrade my unit to and AVIC N2.
If I purchase the V60 discs will this upgrade my unit to and N3?

Of course it will work in your avic, Pioneer makes everything backwards compatible.  It will not turn your old avic into an n3 though.  It will give the N1 and N2 the same mapping and navigation improvements as the N3 has.

As far as the 50mt disks turning your n1 to an n2, that is true with the exception you won't be able to watch video while moving or use most of the navigation functions while in motion (unless you have the voice recognition.)

Cool, I see. Hey guys, I am currently downloading the 50MT West Coast disc and it looks like no one is seeding. Anyone care to boot up their torrent program so I could finish up the DL?

2 things I am interested in are, increasing the memory in the unit so I can take the disk out. Since the N3 now has 64megs and the firmware is the same on both units are upgrading with the new disk. I wonder if I solder in a new memory chip it will take use of the extra amount? Also I want to be able to edit the map data so I can add streets that they seam to miss every year. I think the new disk should be focused on since it is the most current. Wish I was able to download a copy to play with. Anyone have any luck with map kwi files yet?
