wiring multiple relays together?

ive been looking thru previous posts but havent been able to find anything similar to what i need.i have Four (4) SPDT relays which im attempting to set up so that all 4 turn on from 1 switch. they are being used to switch +/- audio signals L and R between 2 sources.currently i set up the relays with the 85 terminal of 3 connected to the 86 of eachother, with an 85 on the first open and the 86 of the last open. (basically in series)this is my first attempt at using Multiple relays so any help would be greatly appreciated.

each one of the 4 relays controls a single polarity of L or R audio. IE. the 30terminal is the line going to the HU preamp input (either L=, L+, R-, or R+) with the 87a and 87 terminals being preamp outputs from 2 separate audio devices. the way i have it set up is that the signal is basically switched between them depending on whether the relays are energized or not. i have this working with 2 independantly wired relays on a test 12v supply but i have no idea how to make all 4 energize the coil at the same time. im fairly sure that the daisy chain i have right now isn't correct.

Disconnect what you currently have connected in the above image.

Actually it can be done with relays. Connections are as follows:

Relay 1

30 : Left (-) out87a: Left (-) source A87 : Left (-) source B85 : negative from switch86 : 12V+

Relay 2

30 : Left (+) out87a: Left (+) source A87 : Left (+) source B85 : negative from switch86 : 12V+

Relay 3

30 : Right (-) out87a: Right (-) source A87 : Right (-) source B85 : negative from switch86 : 12V+

Relay 4

30 : Right (+) out87a: Right (+) source A87 : Right (+) source B85 : negative from switch86 : 12V+

BTW, I'd add a 1 amp diode across the coil of each relay with the cathode side connected to 86 and the anode side to 85. the12volt • Support the12volt.com

swo basically i should wire the coils up in parallel instead of in series as i have above?

Correct. Wiring them in series will not accomplish anything. the12volt • Support the12volt.com

thanks for the help everybody, one last question for you all :) any wiring tips on connect 4 wires together from common power wire

If it's for this application, you can solder each of the respective coil leads together with one lead coming off of one terminal to connect to your power source. the12volt • Support the12volt.com
