I was told that mixing brands gives better sound quality than 1 particular brand.
Should I mix or use 1 brand?

Hi Gary, with the quality of name brand mobile electronics available, going with a single brand of electronics from one manufacturer is not a bad idea and often it's a very good idea.  Whether you mix or match different brands of electronics, it's likely to make less difference in over all sound quality than what you choose for speakers.  Listen and find the speakers YOU like, then choose the components with the features and capabilities you want to run them.

Good advice the12volt! Brand names are always such a big arguing point i conversations, and it blows me away how often some people will champion one brand because they heard one good product by that company. Sound quality is very much a subjective matter. If it sounds good to you , that's all that matters. Go shop around, listen to everything you can get your hands on, and go off of that as much as any other influence.

One thing you have to take into consideration is future add ons to your existing setup. If you are wanting to go into multi media systems, most companies have a complete package where each component relies on another component for controls or processing, these are slave units. I myself mix all my audio/video equipment and try to take the best ( what I can afford ) of each company has to offer and work with that. Good luck with your system as there are alot of good companies to choose from.
