Will most likely tap an accessory wire here.
The mirrors did not come with a relay box or mirror ecu, furthermore both mirrors are operated on a simple 2 wires setup.
Power moter- mirros fold out, Reverse polarity and the mirrors fold in.
This is really 3 problems in one. I have a rough idea of the setup I need:
Problem 1:
Latching relay- Dont want to use 12V DPDT PC relay setup as it is manually controlled with a toggle. Mechanical latching is ok, but not convenient in regards to time- dont think I can get locally.
I think I will build a relay setup similiar to this to address the issue (uses alarm pulse though
)
Problem 2:
The mirrors have to be on a timer because they have to turn off/on at a specific time (2.80s) to prevent them "overfolding"
I will link the setup to a DEI (528T?) Timer relay to control the duration of power.
Problem 3:
I want to be able to "override" the ignition ON feature, when backing into a 1 car garage or other tight spots. A simple switch linked between the accessory wire and timer should address this.
So I am thinking it will be like this:
Latching Relay (Reverses Polarity) -> DEI Timer Relay -> Override Switch -> Acc
**I do not think I have something that will power the mirrors IN once I cut power from the Acc**
Can someone please look this over and give fill in the spots Im missing...
Will I have to use the alarm? Not possible for a direct wire?
Any suggestions??
