I installed a head unit for a friend of mine. Panasonic CQ-C8100U. When listening to radio, sounds great, no problems. When you switch it to cd, there is no audio at all.

CD section is dead... New unit? Have it replaced under warranty.
It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

No, it's used. At least he only paid 50 bucks for it though.

What's the chance you connected the wrong blue wire up to 12v +?  You'd know this is it if the display doesn't function either.  If you're an installer never mind this.
Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

No, that's one of the first things I checked. The only thing not working is the audio from the cd player. The display shows the cd is playing, there is just no sound.

Hook the blue/white lead to the power antenna wire in the car instead of the blue lead. When you play the CD the factory amp is turning off because the remote turn on lead is getting no power.

The blue/white lead is for the external amp.

Yes and this car has a factory amp that uses the power antenna lead as a remote on lead. When you hook the blue wire up to it the amp will shut off when you play the CD. Trust me, this is your problem.
