Does anyone know how to fix the key icon flashing (in the instrument cluster) ?

I just recently installed a mannix sm700 alarm/rs, using DEI 555i bypass, everything works fine, but when i start the car with the key, my dash shows me the flashing key icon and just stays flashing, when i remote start, it doesn't do that.

Any ideas ???

Thanks

need a bit more info here. what kind of car, year?  what happens when you remote start it, then do key takeover? does it flash then?   i have a feeling the car is seeing 2 keys, which is not good, but a little more info would help, especially include how you wired up the 555i.

Well, he's got some late model honda or acura. I think dantemc is right-- did you hook up the keysense wire to the 555I?
Key sense is a RED / white wire in the factory alarm plug or in the ignition harness on 2001- civics, it should be hooked to blue/white keysense wire on the 555I. This wire should go to ground when (and only when) you put a key in the ignition.
Does the car _start_ when you start it w/ the key? I assume it does, but I'm really confused how you get a Honda started w/ the security light flashing-- I thought that meant it was immobilized.
Anyway, just my two cents.

This is normal on some hondas when remote started. As long as the key icon goes off when you stick the key in and take over, I wouldn't worry about it as long as it starts and runs with the R/S. If anything you could try the key sense wire others mentioned.

Actually, if I'm reading his original post, it does just the opposite of that (icon is flashing w/ normal key start, not w/ R/S).
Well, I'm stumped. I doubt it's doing any damage, but I can definitely see where it'd be annoying.
I looked around on 7thgencivic, but couldn't find anything definitive.
If you do find a solution, I'll be very interested-- please post here.

Try reprogramming the 555I to another BLACK key.

Ok, finally got it. I had to cut the data wire going to 555i and hook it up to a relay, so when i put my key in, it bypasses the 555i , thanks to everyone !
