AM Reception on aftermarket radio

A person recently bought to my attention that when they had thier stock radio in thier vehicle, the reception seemed to be alot better. After having an aftermarket radio installed along with two amps,the reception quality was noticably poorer. The noise I heard did not seem to be radiated or a result of any type of ground loops,but more of a buzzing noise simular to that of poor reception on an AM band like a a drive -in! Any possible solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated.Just tring to get it right

That is a fairly common problem with aftermarket decks. Manufacturers prefer beefing up the internal amp over the reciever section of the deck. You could check the resistance between the ant. mast and the center conductor of the ant. plug at the radio. If it seems high try tightening the mast, if that doesn't work then replace the cable. You could also try grounding the shield of the ant. cable.Certified Security Specialist

what resistance is considered to be high or too high??Just tring to get it right
