Hey, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on buying a sound system for my car. (2003 Hyundai Tiburon GT)

I have no idea on what I need and what parts all go together. I'm willing to spend about $800 on it so if anyone could give me some names of components and stuff that would be great.

Thanks

What exactly are you trying to accomplish with your sound system? are you going for sound quality or spl?

Spl is sound pressure level,  This is usually reffered to systems with alot of bass, usually built for spl competitions to produce huge deciebel levels.

If i were you i would look into crands such as infinity, jbl, alpine.  All of thoes companies have speaker lines within your pricerange.  They can all be found at big retail stores as well as smaller car audio shops.  Go and listen to them and decide what speakers you like the best, then go from there..  There are many different ways you could set this system up.  Since it sounds to me like you are looking for more sound quiality i would get a 4 chanel amplifier to power all your door speakers and a small mono and a single 12 inch sub..  Hopefully that helps a little to get you on tack.  Go talk to someone in your area and they amy be able to cut you some deals on the components and help you with your budget.  Also dont forget to include all the wires necessary for the install this is a big expense left out by many people first picking out a sound system.

Oh one more question; what is a small mono? and what's with all the different types of speakers and stuff? Like on alpine speakers there are about 4 different types of speakers.

Sorry about that a small mono amp is a single chanel amp, small reffering to lower on the power scale.  As for what speakers you need it depends on if you have the 4 speaker standard audio system, or the upgraded infinity one...   If you have the standard system you will need 6.5 inch speakers for the fronts and 6*9 inch speakers for the back.  I would look into coaxial speakers in thoes sizes.  If you are willing to spend a little more cash get a component set of speakers for the fronts and stick with coaxial 6*9's for the rears
