viper 5101, 2009 kia spectra

I'm a former installer and havent installed a viper remote starter 3 three years. I bought it figuring not much has changed but they seem to have changed quite a bit. So i'm struggling. Its a Kia Spectra which should be a breeeeze.I can get the door locks to work, light flash, and trunk pop but cant get it to engage the starter.Does the flex relay need to be used? Is this another name for anti-grind? Also-->I remember before the constant 12v used to be in the heavy guage harness, the only constant power im using now is coming from the small 12v wire located in the Primary 12 pin connector is this correct?I have my 12v, starter, ignition, accessory located in the car.This is how i connected it to the remote car starter (this is where i need help)12v---> Red Wire in Primary 12 pin harnessStarter---> Violet (Heavy Gauge Harness)Ignition--->Pink (Heavy Guage Harness)Accessory-->Orange (Heavy Gauge Harness)Second Acc-->Pink/White (Heavy Gauge Harness)I didnt use the rest of the wires in the harness....please help

hmm you used to install? might i ask how long ago?You hook all the reds in the ignition harness to 12 volts. Did you program the pink/white as a second accessory?Might wanna try reading the manual.A DMM is a beautiful thing.

Okay- I used to be an installer but havent installed a starter in about 4 years. I was expecting everything to be close to what it was when i left but i guess not. Before you hooked up constant 12 volt, accessory, ignition, cut the starter wire and put Green and Violet in and you were pretty much good to go. I'm putting a starter in a Kia which should be a breeze but i'm struggling. the flex relay? do you need to use it? Can someone help me with the heavy guage harness on the module? which wires do i NEED to use?? Its a 2009 Kia Spectra. its got 1 ignition, 2 accessories, and 1 starter

Also, the only constant 12v power i'm giving the unit is from the small gauge harness? is this correct? Everything works (door locks, lights, and trunk pop) i just cant get the car to crank over!

The harness has changed since the last time i put one in...Pink/White- Yes, programmed for second accessory,In the manual Red is used for Ignition 1 Input.and in the manual it doesnt say anything about constant 12 volt going to the heavy guage harness

All the reds on the heavy gauge harness go to the heavy gauge constant twelve volts at the ignition harness as mr. zep. said!commit your way to jehovah and he will act in your behalf. psalms 37:5

You Don't need the flex relay. You just need the red, pink, pink white, and purple, also green if you want to add the anti grind starter kill function. This car doesn't seem too difficult, parking lights are negative so be sure to change the setting on the remote starter for negative parking lights if available.Jorge Perez

also make sure the if you do have the anti grind feature that purple goes towards the cars starter and green goes to ignition. If it's not cranking check your tach wire or just use voltage mode with low voltage checkJorge Perez

you have to hook up all 3 constant hots as they are for the internal ign acc&crank relays, pink should go to ign1, orange to acc, pink/white to acc2 and in the programming change it to off durng crank(ac),also neutral safety wire needs to be grounded for starter to work
