im installing remote start in my 2001 nissan altima and have ran immobilizer system. I have the bypass mudole (555u) that i was told to use but im not sure as to were the factory transciever module is. is there a way to bypass it all the way. I only have one key that works in the ignition and dont want to go to the dealer and pay $100 for another. I live in a rural area so car theft is not a concern. I would like to just disable it with or without the bypass module. any help greatly appreaciated.

sorry u need it.......the key has a chip in it...the 555u wraps around the key cylinder.....u will lose a key for the process

If you're willing to get creative, there is a way to get around this for cheap money.

Go out and get some ordinary (non-transponder) keys made for your car. Verify that they turn in the ignition and power up the radio and so forth...the car won't start, of course.

Next, go into the ignition harness and find the keysense wire....it's going to put out a ground whenever the key is in the ignition....this is what makes that annoying chime come on. Sorry, I don't know the color of this wire.....but with enough looking you will find it.

Next, install your remote start as normal, using the 555U with your one good transponder key placed inside it. Make sure the remote start works correctly.

Next, take the Nissan keysense wire, and connect it to the blue activation wire for the 555U.

Here's how it's going to work:

--When you activate the remote start, it grounds the 555U's blue wire, which allows the car to start.

--When you insert one of your cheap hardware-store keys in the ignition, it activates the 555U, which allows the car to start.

--When a thief busts open your ignition switch with a screwdriver and tries to start the car, the 555U will NOT activate, since there is no key in the ignition, and the car will not start.

I am just curious, but if the blue activation wire is used for the keysense wire, then were does the negative ruuning out wire from the remote start go, I would have thought that the negative running out wire from the remote start, would have went to the blue wire on the 555u.

Hey Chris, I'm a litle confused about your process ( not doubting it, just confused )............ does keysense only ground out when a key is in the cylinder or when the IGN is turn on ? If the IGN wire turns on the keysense then it makes sense to me, but if it does not ground out, then you will need to place a key in the key cylinder. Let me know.

BTW: RED SATURN...... if the process that Chris described is IGN activated, then the ground out when running wire is not necessary because the keysense wire will act as the ground out when running wire. You can use the groundout when running wire on the 2nd starter & ACC wires now.

hmmm some keysense wires go to 12volt when a key is in the ignition
