wondering if someone could help me out with ohms, amps:

im using one 12" rockfordfosgate sub dvc 4ohm wired as so: positive wire from box into positive terminal on left side of speaker, negative wire from box into negative terminal on right side of speaker...then a wire that runs from the left negative terminal to the right positive terminal.

now the amp im using is a two channel 2 ohm stable run in mono mode

Is this a good combination? sounds pretty good but im confused with ohms and matching amps to speakers so wondering if i could be doing something better amp wise..

The way you have it set up is in an 8 ohm configuration. Send us model numbers for both your sub and amp and we will tell you if they are a good match.

To set up in a 2 ohm load you'd need to connect negative to negative to negative... and positive to positive to positive

Which amp do you have?  Are you SURE that it is 2ohm Mono Stable?

Didn't say a 2 channel mono amp... he said a two channel running in mono (bridged) mode.

A stereo amp, bridged.
If he wires the woofer as a 2-ohm load, and bridges the amplifier it would be presenting the amplifier with 1-ohm per channel; meaning the same electrical load as if it were run in stereo mode with a 1-ohm load attached to each channel.
I think I am reading his post as saying that his amplifier is 2-ohm stable, meaning the ONLY combination that he has, as a safe choice, is exactly what he has right now. The woofer, wired in series for 8-ohms will present to the amplifier the same load (again, electrically speaking) as 4-ohms per channel. Safe, if not exactly optimal.
To the OP, please post your amplifier model. I expect I have already answered your questions, but let's see all the angles, just to be safe! :)

generally 2 channel amps are not 2 ohm MONO stable. they are generaly 2 ohm STEREO stable. So either he read somethign wrong or he's actually got a mono amp that simply has 2 neg and 2 pos posts on the amp for ease of wiring.
