I am new to the world of timers.
I am installing an amplifier in my car and I was told from the dealership that I would need to use a timer such as the 528t Pulse Timer Relay for my amp turn on because of a voltage jump from the stock head-unit. I am not 100% sure of the connections to the timer I need to make. If anyone has any information on the topic it would be greatly appreciated.
Here is a link to the timer guide

Did they say a pulse timer, or maybe a Line Out Converter?  And what kind of vehicle are we dealing with?

They said Timer. I am also using a line out converter to get my RCA inputs because I have an external amp in my trunk and it just makes things a lot easier. The vehicle is a 2011 Hyundai Elantra GLS with navigation package.

The factory amp turn on in that car may be CAN bus, you could try using an accessory from the ignition switch, or possibly finding a switched wire to one of the cigarette lighters, that way you don't have to pull the head unit.

Ok thank you georgerocco that was my other though and that's probably what I'm going to end up doing to save myself the trouble.
