06 RAM 1500
just wanted to brush up on my electrical and to make sure im doing this correctly.
lets say my truck does not have foglights and i'd like to install them and hook them up directly to my headlights (so when I turn on my lights -not drl- my foglights turn on)
I drew out 2 options, will both, or any work?
THANKS! foglights, 06 ram 1500 - Last Post -- posted image.

Assuming heads with (added) fogs is legal...
Either will do noting:
- the second is better to stay independent of vehicle light's fusing and (supply) wiring.
- the second coil+ signal could be taken from the headlight switch at the headlight relay (ie, #86; coil+) else the output (to the headlights). [But the headlight switch is better so the fogs still light if the headlamp fuse (or relay and connection) is blown.]
With the "signal" being taken from the headlamp relay, there is no need to wire to/from the passenger compartment - it is all "added on" under the hood. (As is Option #1.)
IMO use Option 2. But make sure you have an appropriate fuse (maybe 15A) near the battery. And I assume the cost of the added relay (and a spare) is negligible, and mounting space no issue...
If using Option 1, make sure the upstream fuses and cabling are up to the task - else risk losing ALL lights...
