My friend said that one of his friends checked his cap and said that it was running at 7 and not 12. I'm guessing he means volts, so it must need to be recharged. The problem is that he had his amps installed at circuit city and they took his cap charger. Could I use my Lightning Audio cap charger on his American Audio cap? Both are 1 farad cap. Thanks in advance!

If the cap is hooked up to the car and the display reads 7 volts then the car should not start. However I’m sure the car dose start so sounds to me like the caps digital voltage meter is probably bad. It will not help recharging the cap since it is already hooked up to the car, and some caps don’t need to be charged you just hook them up and they charge them selves. Find out if the cap always stays @ 7 or if it goes up and down?

That is what I thought, it didn't make sense how it would lose its charge. Yes the works fine. I haven't seen his car recently but he told me everything was hooked up except the 60a glass fuse up front.

Well if his main fuse up front is not hooked up then it is possible that the cap is no longer in use. Can you elaborate some more on the 60 amp fuse?

Its the fuse right near the battery. The one that you get when you buy 4 guage amp install kits.

Well if you don’t have the main fuse at the battery connected then the system can not get any power (Cap included0 and that probably why it is reading 7 volts. doesn’t sound like he is currently using the system. Why did he disconnect the main 60 amp fuse?

That is what I thought also. Originally he pulled out his system and he took out the main fuse and I guess he put it back in with a friend but he can't find that fuse.

If he puts the fuse back in it should charge back up and go to a normal voltage.
