Hello all! I would like to ask in my first post a question about Avital systems or DEI in general.
I have installed a few Avitals and I've always used relays for everything, not only for polarity change, but not knowing if the unit has built in relays or not. So I wired in one relay for lock and one for unlock, relay for horn, relay for trunk pop, for AUX and so on. Since DEI does not offer any support if you're not a PRO, I choose to use relays on all the outputs.
So could you please educate me more on these systems?

Unless heavy duty starter and POS/NEG light outputs all aux and lock/unlock when 2 wire are low current NEG.
Use of relays is only needed when the particular vehicle install requires it.
Avital is the entry level for Viper etc. Often current models use previous generation Viper etc. wiring.

So you are saying that I don't need relays on the lock/unlock with the Avitals? I know some cars require relays but I wasn't sure if the units have built in relays or not.

Assuming you are going to lock "trigger" wires, usually stated by Directechs etc., you're OK Most cars have internal relays, the trigger wires equal 85 (NEG side of relay coil). If on the other hand, you're trying to control motor wires, then a relay- 5 wire method or one wire multiplex or one wire open closed, then a relay is required.
It varies according to the vehicle you're working with.

That's what I thought. I usually wire at gem modules instead of directly to the lock motor.
