I am installing a firstech cmx with blade in my 2012 Hyundai Genesis sedan. I ran into a problem. After making all the connections per the install diagram, I pressed the remote start button on the remote to see if it would work. When I did this, the power tilt/telescope steering wheel extended out and down to the last position I had it in, as it would normally do if you press the PTS button once. After this, it did not go to the ignition on position (the instrument cluster did not turn on, fuel pump did not turn on), car did not remote start, but the succesful remote start signal was sent back to the 2 way remote. Right after the succesful remote start signal was sent back to the 2 way remote, the steering wheel retracts back in as it would if you were to press the PTS button to the off position.
The install diagram only calls for 1 ignition wire to be connected, compared to some vehicles that require the IGN 1 and IGN 2 wires to be connected. It calls for a diode to be placed in the ignition wire from the module, with the cathode end of the diode facing the module, which is exactly the direction I put it. The diagram also has the ignition wire on the module listed as ignition input. It calls for the ignition wire from the blade harness to be tied in to the ignition wire from the module harness, after the diode, which I did. The PTS wire connection is one wire from the blade harness, which splits (I apologize for my ignorance to the proper terminology for this connection) into two wires, with a diode in each of the two split wires, with the cathodes facing toward the module. I did exactly that (got two lengths of wire, tied one end of each of the two into the PTS wire from the blade module, and a diode in each one with the cathode). I then connected one wire to the PTS 1 wire at the PTS connector, and the other wire to the PTS 2 wire .
1.) Since the ignition does not turn on, could this be the PTS connections, the ignition connection, or both?
2.) Does the PTS 1 wire at the PTS button refer to as if you were to press the PTS button once for the accessory postion, power will be sent to that wire, and does the PTS 2 wire at the PTS button refer to as if you were to press the PTS button twice to turn the ignition on, power will be sent to that wire?
I know this is a lot to read. I do have some experience installing and programming remote starts and alarms (firstech products to be specific), full stereo systems, using a multi meter, power probe etc. I have successfully installed a firstech 7200 in my 2012 ford fusion and my 2006 ford taurus. I have also succesfully installed a DC3 in my 2016 hyundai azera. So I do know what I am doing for the most part, but I guess I am not the best at diagnosing problems with remote starts. This is a big let down to me since I have been able to successfully install remote starts in 3 other vehicles.
Thanks in advance for any help

There are a few possibilities. Here are some things to check :
1. Do the Brake lights come on during a R/S attempt? They should as the vehicle needs to see the Brake pedal depressed to R/S. If they don't come ON, check the relay and its' wiring.
2. Verify the two diodes that split the (+) PTS output are installed and oriented correctly. They must be used for proper circuit isolation.
3. The engine is actually started via the CAN Bus control, so the R/S doesn't apply a (+) Ignition output to the vehicle. The diode blocks the output while allowing the R/S controller to see the actual Ignition condition that's needed for proper R/S programming and control. Ensure that the diode on the R/S Ignition wire is installed and oriented correctly.
4. As a PTS vehicle there is no requirement for running in Tach Mode. I wouldn't run in Tachless either. Try Engine Sensing = Assume Start 3 or Tach Mode and learn the Data Tach signal.
Soldering is fun!

1.) Yes, the brake lights do come on during the R/S attempt, so I know the brake wire and relay are connected properly.
2. and 3.) I will double check these
4.) I will double check this setting but I believe I have the data tach signal learned.
It might be a while before I can have the car apart again to give this another try. I will update either way, although it may be some time.
Thank You!
