Howdy all,
I am starting to install a 5706 in a late 60's truck, and stumbled upon this post with some interest.
Like 392cuda, my 5706 system did not come with the connector for the remote start shutoff switch. Bought mine off Amazon in 2018 (third party seller), so I'm stuck with it, even though it was advertised as "remote start". :)
With nothing to lose, I just soldered in a switch where it was missing. I've attached a couple of pics so you can see what that looks like.
So the truck is pretty bare bones, didn't even come with an interior light. So I've added door switches and an interior light circuit so I can sense that now.
I wanted to see if I could get some help sanity checking how to connect things on the heavy gauge, 12 position harness before I start cutting things?
Connections:
Position 1 is not occupied with a wire
I'm not using Positions 3 (Pink w/black), 4 (Pink w/white), 8 (Orange), and 9 (Red w/white).
Position 2 (Red w/Black), is described as: "This wire connects to a (+) 12V source and is the power feed for the onboard Accessory and Starter relays." I interpret this as it should go to an unswitched 12V power source.
Position 5 (Red), is described as: "This wire connects to a (+) 12V source and is the power feed for the onboard Ignition relay." I interpret this as this also goes to a unswitched 12v(+) source.
Position 6 (Green) - cut the wire from the ignition switch to the starter.   This wire attaches to ignition switch side.
Position 7 (Violet) - cut the wire from the ignition switch to the starter. This wire attaches to side of wire that runs to starter relay. Given then name "Failsafe", I'm guessing that this should lack continuity when the system is armed, but when disarmed would have continuity so the key can be used to engage the starter.
Wire 10 (Pink) - Not quite sure how this should work, or where it should connect. Description is: "This wire connects to the main Ignition circuit in the vehicle. It will supply voltage to the Ignition circuit in the vehicle during the remote start sequence and is also the Ignition input to the unit while the remote start is not activated."
I have yet to cut any wires, but do have 2 and 5 connected to the constant 12v(+) source (measures 12.7v).
The Alarm is hooked up to siren, hood pin, can flash parking lights, and is powered on (where I can use remote to arm and disarm it.
Testing with my VOM:
A. Alarm Disarmed:
Continuity between Green and Violet = True
Voltage from Green to Ground = 0
Voltage from Violet to Ground = 0
Voltage from Pink / White to ground = 0
B Alarm Armed:
Continuity between Green and Violet = True
Voltage from Green to Ground = 0
Voltage from Violet to Ground = 0
Voltage from Pink / White to ground = 0
I really did read the manual a few times, and even built a spreadsheet to map out where everything was connected. I'm hoping a couple of people who have more experience than I will jump in. To me, it feels like this system (board) lacks remote start, with the fact that Green and Violet always having continuity being the "tell" that even with the switch installed, it's no good for the remote start.
FWIW: I do have a Bitwriter with the 2.9 chip, and it is able to read and program the system.
Thanks in adavnce for your help!

Well, that's embarassing. I thought I was replying to a message (and even posted some photos). But, now I see that only silver or better members can upload photos. Ooops.
Here's a link to the photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/JpnKZybeA2BmAoCR9. If that doesn't work - go my profile page, where I have the link posted as my homepage.
So it is interesting, as I wait for someone to chime in, I am seeing if a replacement module can be purchased for a reasonable cost (if I have to go that route.)
On eBay, a search for "5x06 remote start" provides a number of results. Some have the remote start safety switch blocked off like mine, while others do not.
I'll be interested to see what you guys think...

Yeah, some of the 5706s came with that switch and others didn't 🤷. On systems that came with the connection, I typically just installed a 2 pin jumper from an old computer rather than the toggle switch. The pink wire needs to connect to the ignition circuit (not sure what mods you've done, but typically ignition coils, fuel pump, instrument cluster, etc. are powered with the key in the ignition position).
Without connecting the siren, I'd see if it starts with the key while armed.

Lee, appreciate the reply - thank you.
So on this system... It doesn't appear the switch has any effect. If I feel ambitious I may open the case back up tomorrow to ensure I didn't short something by accident with my soldering job.
I did get remote start to engage, and observed the following:
As you stated: Pink is the "Run" circuit for ignition, fuel pump, etc.
I had a misconception that, while the alarm is armed, there would not be continuity between the purple and green wires. I've observed this is not the case. That is not the case - violet and green have continuity with the alarmed armed, and both have battery voltage when the remote start starter relay engages.
So, why would there be wires for the switch side and the starter side? If I only connect the violet wire, are there any repercussions? If remote start is engaged, and the key is turned to start (simulated by applying battery voltage to the green while remote start is engaged), it does not cancel the remote start sequence (which would be a nice way of idiotproofing the system - you remote start the vehicle, then jump in and turn the key.
Having said that - I have yet to hook up any other signals (such as tach) to the alarm system. Am working on that today.

I realize I'm stating the obvious for those who have worked with these for years... Just posting in case it help someone else.
Turned on "Anti Grind". Still continuity between violet and green whether system is armed or disarmed. Now, when remote start is cranking, the key side of the circuit is disconnected (green has no voltage, violet has 12v+)
Again, I have yet to fully connect things and attempt a true remote start, will report back later.
