I have a pioneer in dash and for a while ive wanted to make a physical control panel to go into my custom center console that will control the volume and menu navigation functions through a steering wheel adapter. My truck does not have steering wheel controls. What im unsure of is if the adapter can be trained to recognize individual switches by using resistance or is there some sort of digital signal that i would have to recreate similar to how a computer keyboard works. If i can use resistors, what would be the range of values i would need. I know this seems a bit technical but i think it wouldnt be hard to do, i just dont have enough personal knowledge of how the SWC adapters operate and trying to search only brings me to people using them as intended which doesnt help me. Thanks in advance

Steering wheel control adapters used to come with an assortment of resistors. I have previously programmed them as an Acura or Honda with resistance to ground.
If they don't come with resistors it's not a big deal. Just order an assortment. Anything from 100 ohms to 100K ohms should be fine.
