Sub Box Volume

Hey, I just bought 2 12" RF Punch HX2's from my friend along with the box he had them in. I'm looking to get a new box (specifically one built to specs). Looking it up the specs say "sealed box volume 0.8-4.0 cubic feet". That's a pretty large range. What volume should I get in order to get the best performance out of them (more SQ than SPL if there is a choice)? I realize that this may be unpredictable, but is there any general rule to go by? 1-1.25 cubic feet(each) is a good volume for a 12, this is with no programs or calculations. Also I don't think that it says 4 cubic feet for a sealed, maybe a ported.Certified Security Specialist

i used to have two RF he 12's, each in a 1.1 cft (2.2 total) enclosure.  it sounded decent, but the power of the sub was the limiting factor.  toyota echo...perfect sound named vehicle

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll start looking for a box around 1 cubic foot volume. Anybody know good places to buy boxes online? The only one I know about is speakerhole.com. Dennis
