I've got a noisey old fibreglass-bodied Lotus 2-seater. I need a whole new system. I've built a small (.360 cu ft.) sealed sub box. I have not cut the hole for the sub yet though. It could accomodate up to a 10". There is room in the doors for 61/2" speakers. Please give me your suggestions for speakers, sub and an amp to power them with. I read somewhere that an isobaric setup (2 subs face to face?) can make good use of a small box. Is this something I should consider?

If it's noisy you should think about installing some sound deadening materials (Dynamat). Need help with component selection - Last Post -- posted image.

Other than that it all depends on your budget and musical tastes.

Isobaric systems are great for small spaces, but easy to fudge if not done correctly.

Need more info.

What is your budget? and what kind of sound are you looking for?

Thanks, just what I'm looking for. My budget is around $700 or so. The box I built goes on the console at shoulder level, very close to occupants ears. So, you think a 10" sub will be OK in that size box then? I had thought I'd have to go to an 8. The specs on that amp are 60wx4 @ 2ohms and 50wx4 @ 4ohms. To figure out what I will be sending to the sub, do I simply add 60w to the 50w that a typical HU puts out? Would I be purposely underpowering the sub because I have a small box? I apologize in advance for any dumb questions.

Oh, and I listen primarily to rock music. I like to hear distinct staging, tight bass and clear sound. I don't need it to be really loud though. I like the sound deadening idea also.

So as of now you need an amp for the sub and one for your mids and highs, You Have an enclosure for a 10 that is Just over 1/4 cu/ft, Now as far as the speakers go you do you just have the 6 1/2's up front, or do you have something for rear fill? Also what is the max speaker depth that you can put in your enclosure? And what kind of headunit (radio) do you have?

I was planning on just the 6 1/2's for mids and highs. There really isn't room for anything else, The firewall is directly behind the seats(mid-engined car). The max speaker depth of the enclosure is about 5.7". I do not yet have a head unit. I'd like it to play cd-r 's. Also, I think I'd like separate tweeters rather than 2-way 6 1/2's.
