Hi All,

I just installed a Auto dimming compass mirror in my car and it came with no wiring pigtail. The previous owner of this mirror had rigged 2 wires to the first 2 pins (looking at mirror back, left to right) I'm not certain the mfg of this mirror, but it has 7 pins, apparently a cluster of 3, than 2 than 2 more horizontally lined from left to right. I had a map light mirror with a plug very similar to the first 3 pin set. I plugged it in and it seems to function, however the compass does not seem to work accurately. Seeing as to how i recieved this mirror with no plug(s) or pigtails, I don't know what the fuction or necessity of the other pins are. I know not being sure the make or model of the mirror doesn't really help here, but i can say there is a 3 position switch which has an off, "M" and "C/M" setting. Off appears to do exactly as it promises, "M" seems to do nothing (Switch illumination stays on, but thats it) And "C/M" Turns on the compass. All this being said, does anyone have any tips? Or is it just plain hopeless?  Thanks in advance to all that reply and if any xtra info is needed to aid in helping me, please let me know. Thanks again all!

Run a search for "gentec" or something like that. There are alot of posts on these types of mirrors. Also you can look in the misc section, this is where most of the posts are.
