I made a kill switch to the ignition on my car and told my friend that I could help him make one. Then he came up with the idea to have a keypad like the one on a newer lincoln towncar and other luxery vehicles have on their doors instead of a toggle switch. I'm not familiar with those keypads and I don't know how they work. If its a simple two wire hook up, if it will disengage the starter at anytime that it is working, or where to get one. If anyone has any suggestions or advice on this, plz share.

Thanx

what do you want to do..? keypads are just multiple switches, do you want to require a code to be entered? do you want the keys to do different things?

he wants there to be a required code to start enable the ignition. In other words, if the key is in the ignition and then turned nothing can happen unless the correct code is entered.

But now that you mention differnet functions, I have some new ideas.

it really depends  how much you want to get into it, if you want it just enough to work it can be done with a few circuit chips, if you want everything you can a micrcontroller really allows for a better set-up, although requires programing and burning...
