I have a question about adding remote start to my Grand Prix. I haven't decided exactly which model of remote start I am going to add to my car but it will probably be a DEI model since I will be installing myself and hear they have the best instructions. I'm also thinking about a 2-way. Will I be able to hook-up the rear defrost? I would assume it is possible but there is the problem of it shutting off after approx. 10 min or so. Any recomendation on remote start? Security is not a must but keyless entry, auxillory for trunk release, rear defrost (maybe), and I like features more than range.

The best way to do it is to disassembe the climate control panel. Then solder two wires onto the contacts on the circuit board that are controlled by the rear defroster switch. Hook these wires to a relay that closes or connects them when you activate the relay from an aux output from the remote starter. You should ideally use a second aux out put that you must activate through the remote as you won't always want the rear deffogger to come on. By doing it this way you utilize all the wiring, fusing and timers from the factory system.
