First alarm in many years - so I may end up with lots of questions.  Here's the first one.

I've used the door trigger & dome light as the same thing in the past.  However, the 2003 Focus has a courtesy light upon exit - so I'm probably going to need to use a relay.  Question: Is the door trigger wire noted in the diagram [Blue/Black (-)] the same used for the dome light?  I see on the Mustang it's a BLACK/ White wire.

Well, the problem is that the alarm has a dome light output also.  Can I just tie those two together, because they give me some funky relay configuration to use in the manual but I don't know why.

The alarm shouldn't turn the dome light on when the arming so I wouldn't see why it should cause a problem.  On disarming the domelight should come on but it shouldn't bother the sensor.

What do you think?

the reason they give you the relay diagram is because most alarms only support a  200mA output. unless it has built in relays.

NO you cannot just tie the two wires together, you must use a relay.

domlight output wire goes to pin 85 of relay.(-)

pin 86 goes to 12 volts constant.

87 goes to ground.

30 goes to the door trigger wire from alarm.

hope this helps, good luck and have fun!!!

do it right the first time....less warranty work=more money!:)
