Yes, The power light comes on when I turn on the radio, and the "protection" light blinks on once then turns off.
I believe I have 4 RCA outputs in the back of the head unit, and 2 RCA inputs in the amp. It is an aftermarket head.(Sony Xplod)

I would run rca's from your rear output to the amp and then see if you have anything....you will lose your fading and balance control though

Hey, Thanks to all who gave advice to me on this topic. I did get the amp hooked up and it's sounding great. I actually found the diagram on the back of the amp-duh! I had my cousin come over and help me. He said he's been into stereos for 15-20 years.
     One quick question-About the highlevel inputs-the diagram says that I hook up to the positive terminals on whatever speakers I use, and the other two wires go to the car stereo ground. Shouldn't the negative terminals be hooked up too? Probably a stupid question, but....
