I BOUGHT A COMMANDO 501-S ALARM FOR MY 2002 DODGE RAM 2500. I AM TRYING TO HOOK UP THE WIRES FOR THE DOME LIGHTS AND THE DOOR TRIGGERS. MY WIRE COLORS ARE TAN, WHITE AND BLACK/ GREEN ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IN THE KICK PANEL. ON THE PASSENGER SIDE IT IS WHITE AND BLACK/ GREEN. THESE ARE THE WIRES GOING TO THE PUSH BUTTON SWITCHES ON CAB AND WORKS OFF THE DOOR OPENING AND CLOSING. WHAT I NEED TO KNOW IS WHICH WIRE TO ATTACH MY DOME ILLUM. WIRE WHICH IS A (-) OUTPUT FROM THE ALARM. ALSO WHERE TO ATTACH THE TRIGGER WIRE  FOR THE DOOR TRIGGERS. DOOR TRIGGERS FROM ALARM IS BOTH (-) AND (+), ONE EACH.  ALL THE DIAGRAMS I'VE SEEN SO FAR REFERS TO A YELLOW WIRE SOMEWHERE IN THE DRIVER KICK PANEL, WHICH I HAVE NOT SEEN. ANY HELP WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED.

You need just one of triger inputs going to the alarm.

First check the wire that changes polarity when you open the door. If the wire goes from +12volts to ground then it is negative triger and you will connect it to the green wire of the alarm (-) triger. If the wire changes from ground to 12Volts then your car has positive triger and you will use the violet(+) wire of the alarm.

For the iluminated entry you have to use a relay. See the diagram on this web site that is shown in the CAR SECURITY menu and go to iliminated entry. This feature is just to turn on the dome light we you disarm the system, if you do not connect does not affect the alarm functionality.

OKAY THIS IS HOW IT IS RIGHT KNOW.

DRIVER SIDE: TAN WIRE--goes from 4 volts to 0 when door opened.        WHITE WIRE-- goes from 12 volts to 0 when door is opened.  BLACK/ GREEN WIRE-- goes from 0 to 0 when door is opened.

DO  I USE THE WHITE WIRE FOR THE DOME ILLUMINATION AND THE DOOR TRIGGERS?

Yes,  you got it. You have the white wire with negative trigger. So you got to use the negative input trigger to your alarm, wich is the green(-) trigger. The violet(+)  wire is left unconnected.

For the iluminated entry: Just make sure you use the diagram shown in this web page in the CAR SECURITY section.

Hope this helps.

Take care.
