Hi all... and for my first post I give you... sigh... another window module issue...

About 8 months ago, I had a Compustar alarm/starter installed on my vehicle (2002 Hyundai Elantra). I had the optional window roll up/down modules installed as well. Typical "alarm arms, windows up, #3 on key fob to vent" setup.

A few months ago, I armed my alarm and the windows didn't go up. I disarmed and got inside, and found that I couldn't manually control either window with the switches.  A few hours later the windows worked. The issue became more frequent on both rolling up or rolling down, until 1 day I couldn't roll the windows up for like a week. A trip to the install shop and their troubleshoot found nothing. They reprogrammed the brain and the windows worked. I drove home, couldn't get the windows up again. Two more trips later, the shop feels the issue is related to some module or something. I disagree, I think it's a wiring issue, but the tech assures me it is not (I am a true novice fyi).

Heres the weird thing though...More often then not, when my windows are stuck down, if I crack the driver side door open a few inches, the switches work until I shut the door again.

So, my windows have been down now for like 3 weeks waiting for the "part" to come in, so I am going to start troubleshooting this myself. 1 thing really confuses me though... Assuming it is not a wiring issue, what else in the alarm install could possibly remove the control from the door switches? I assumed all connections just tapped into lines.

It sounds like you have a wire thats being grounded when your door shuts or your door is pinching a wire so that the unit wont work. try following all the wires from the unit and visually look at all of them for wear and apparent grounding against metal. If you don't find anything I would assume your window module is bad.
