wire in sub gone bad

That is what is called a tinsel lead.  If it is still intact, but the speaker doesn't work then most likely the voice coil is fried.  Tinsel leads are generally a much larger awg than the voice coil wire, so they generally don't burn up.  If the voice coil is fried, then the only way to fix it is to have it re-coned by the manufacturer.  Maybe you could give us more information about your situation?

just take that off, replace it with a peice of spare wire and test the speaker, if it works then you know that it is the wire, but don't leave that peice of replaced wire on the speaker,  that is just a test peice, take it to the manufacterer to have it fixed

while the speaker is playing if  i touch the tinsel lead or just move a little it sounds good but when i let it go it starts to sound bad again and was thinking it may be a short in the tinsel lead

Ah, actually it sounds like it's an open circuit.  A short would be if one tinsel lead touched the other.  I recomend contacting the manufacturer and see how much they charge to fix it.

well i cut a little insulation back and seen a section of wire that look black or burnt so i i cut that section of the wire back and soder the wire  back to together and the sub sound good, how did this happen                                         

yes you will want to send it in other wise you might void your warranty if you try it....

if its under warranty then you will probally just have to pay shipping
