2001 Chry Concorde LXi Remote Start

I want to intergrate a remote start system into my factory alarm/keyless entry w/o loosing the factory remotes or having to buy unnessasary sensors for my door locks and trunk. I know I have to get the DEI 555C for the bypass on the Sentry key system, I just would like a suggestion on a simple solution for a remote start w/o basically having 2 seperate systems on my vehicle.

You can add a channel expander to use with your factory remote keyless entry (RKE) and a stand alone remote start unit. This will allow you to start and stop the vehicle (remote start) with the factory remotes. Typically by unlocking the doors with the RKE, then within 3 seconds locking the doors with the factory RKE will control the addtional channel. You can also configure it to do it by unlocking, then locking if you wish.

Thanx for the info.... In my research I found a DEI 555c for the bypass, a DEI 450t for the channel expander, and I found 3 DEI compatible alarms; 2 omega's and a valet 551. If you were doing the install which one would you recommend installing. Price wise, simplicity, and operability of the system.

I'd probably use one of the DEI alarms you found, but you should go with the one that has all of the features you plan to incorporate now and that is expandable and/or compatible with any accessories that you might plan on adding in the future.

The DEI systems are pretty good but I would recommend the Omega RS-4LX. It has the channel expander built in and will do everything you need for your car. In addition, it has onboard relays so that's less wiring you'll have to do (DEI remote starts are outboard). It's pretty simple to activate with your factory keyless. The RS-4LX can be setup for double pulse activation and what is typically done is, the activation wire is connected to your vehicle's door lock motor wire. Whenever you press lock twice withing 5 seconds, it'll activate. I hope this helps.

I know you don't want to replace the remotes, but........

The factory alarm system can easily be armed and disarmed by applying current, through the appropriate resistors, to the appropriate wire.  (I think it's GREEN/ orage.)

You can just buy an ordinary remote start and keyless entry unit.  Wire up the proper arm/disarm setup.  Wire up trunk pop from the aftermarket remote (just one cheap relay).

Your horn won't honk when you arm from the aftermarket remote, and you'll have no Panic button on the aftermarket remote.....but you could add that too if you wish.

All in all, going that route will be inexpensive and easy.

I priced it that way... w/ the aftermarket alarm/remote start system...... I loose the OEM remotes, the relays for the doors, the lights, the dome lights and the trunk.... I would have to replace all those or get a high end aftermarket alarm with all those relays integrated or purchase them seperately. I would still have to get the override for the SENTRY system (there is no way around that but there is two options (loose or buy a spare key - I have a wife so I need 2 keys (80-140 bucks each) or get the override box which is much cheaper)). If I do a personal install I save on the labor charge. If I get pro installation it comes down to the difference in price for bringing my own parts or purchasing products from them.
