My Personal Installer Note: Connectors are easy, neat, and professional. But do you know how to crimp properly?

Try www.bulldogsecurity.com they have a good tutorial on how to install a remote start and some good tips on wire connections.  Good Luck      Brian

Bulldog does have a good basic tutorial but beware of their wiring diagrams. I have found some of there information to be a bit inaccurate. You'll need to make sure that you use a remote start that can easily be expanded to compensate for 3 ignition outputs and 2 starter outputs because the vehicle has a cold start wire which is essentially a second starter wire. You'll need an extra ignition key and something like Omega's PASS-4 module. Other than that, everything is pretty straight forward. I hope this helps.

Notes:

NOTE:  This vehicle has an immobilizer system that needs to be bypassed during remote start operation.   *1 The SECU (Smart Entrance Control Unit) is located to the passengers side of the steering column.  *2 Can also find RED / green or RED / yellow at fuse box.  *3 Find lt. blue for the drivers door in pin 29, RED / blue for the passenger front door in pin 40, and RED / white for the rear doors in pin 28.  Use all 3 wires and diode isolate each.    *4 Requires a high-current ground for activation.  *5 Located on the rear of the instrument cluster in the white plug.  Do not start the car with the cluster unplugged.  Can also find the WHITE/ green at the ECM located in the front of the center console on the transmission hump. The wiring is easily reached by removing the panel just to the front of the center console on the passenger side. DO NOT UNPLUG THE ECM.  *6 Located on the rear of the instrument cluster in the 20 pin brown plug.  Do not start the car with the cluster unplugged.  Can also find the wire at the ECM.  *7 The headlight relay is in the relay box under the hood.

There you go. DEI info is always reliable. That should give you a good idea of what you are up against.

I'm often dissatisfied with DEI information, but their Nissan wiring charts are always spot-on.

I haven't done a remote start on a Maxima in some time, but I've done a few of the identical Infiniti....I35's I think they are.

The second-accessory wire operates the radio; it isn't necessary for remote start.  Who wants to have the radio wake up their neighbor when the car is remote started?

Instead of setting up a second starter relay, many installers simply tie the car's two starter wires together, connecting the remote starter's single output to both of them.  Even though it sounds bad, I've never heard of anyone having trouble using this method.

You are right. I usually tie them together too. I'm guess I'm just trying to preach proper installer etiquette (if there is such a thing) :]

That's the way I did it, I tied both starter wires together. I've never had a problem doing this with other vehicles in the past. I used the DEI 555u module to bypass the immobilizer system. The car is very straight foward.
