'98 Mazda Protege Neutral Saftey Wire Location

Anybody know where I can find a neutral safety wire in a 98' Mazda Protege??  I would assume this wire is grounded whenever the car is in neutral.  Right now the clutch also has to be pushed in, I know how to bypass that, but I was wanting to hook up the safety wire if at all possible.

i dont think theres one. the only one ive heard about are the subarus. might want to consider a MT safe unit.Houston,TX

Well, if there's not one then I may just go for it anyways.  Its my g/f's car and she NEVER leaves it in anything but neutral when she gets out, so I don't think it'll be an issue anyways.

I cannot stress how important it is for you to not shrug this off. Please invest in a manual transmission safe remote starter like a compustar and do it right. Do not bypass safety mechanisms in place with assumptions that it will not be an issue now or in the near future. The protege has a neutral sensor and my data is for a protege 2002 which points to Pin 64 @PCM. This could be totally wrong for your car and verify it before your proceed.. Do it right and do it once..

Nope, no need for different alarm.  Found the neutral safety wire on the car.  It was under the battery on top of transmission in a 2 wire harness.  One of the 2 green wires showed ground when the car was in neutral.  Hooked it up and everything works like a dream.  Makes me feel better.  I was gonna leave it like it was, but I couldn't go to sleep last night.  I kept thinking about the car lurching forward into another car or a little kid walking in front of it.  Hahaha...Man I lost some sleep over it!  So today I did some research and whipped out the multimeter and found it.  Tonight I will sleep much better!
