12'' Alpine Type R box opinions?

Well this is the box that im about finished with.....im putting a 12" Alpine Type R into it where i will have the Apline MRD-M605 installed on top.....its my 1st system so its also my first box.......yes! i will be carpeting it, just not right away.......
Box Specs.....
40" long...
13.5" deep/tall
Sub Compartment 1ft cubic airspace

It looks nice, but why is it so big? Just to fill space out, or are you planning on putting other goodies in there? Maybe a stealthy hideout for the amp?

im mounting the amp on top.....on face of box im doing a nice design with carpet and some other material. Not sure yet.....

Make that a whole hell of a lot louder, port one side and give the sub 3 cubes of air to play with.. it'll be much louder.

id rather be more for SQL than SPL.....thanks for teh idea though.
i finished the box and system.....amp is mounted on the back, and ill hopefully have pics up within the next day or so.

I bet it sounds good. My shop is an Alpine dealer and we rarely build sealed boxes for the type Rs. You planning on getting two more soon?

DON'T mount your amp on top of your sub box. EVER. It's not good for the amp, the vibrations from the sub will eventually rattle the amp apart. Go search on the forums for "mounting amp" and see what you get.
