I was wondering if it is possible to wire a stereo directly to the battery and not cause harm to the stereo. I am planning to wire the actual receiver unit to the terminal. I have a battery kill switch and key that comes out everytime I get out of the vehicle (security reasons). Any information would be appreciated. I have a 93 acura integra. I am aware that the white wire is the best one to use, but again due to security I have changed all the original wire colors to different ones. I don't want to find which one is the original white again ><.

As long as it is a 12v radio, then there is nothing wrong with wiring right to the battery. You would want to make sure to put a fuse close to the battery though. Also what did you plan on hooking the radios ign/acc lead to? You wouldn't want to wire the constant and acc right to the battery or the radio would be on all the time.

The acc goes to the ignition. The wires for that have not been changed. I have a key that has to be in to allow a complete circut. Then another key has to be in to start the car. I was going to wire the main power to the negative side of the battery kill switch terminal.
I use a good inline fuse set up?
        Thanks again for the help.^^

if you wire it to the negative side of your kill switch, then you will not have any memory on your radio, that is what the constant wire is for. constant power

I think that's why he asked if it's okay to wire directly to the battery.
My ex once told me I have a perfect face for radio.
