Jeff, I need some advise.

I put a prostart remote in a 97 chev 1/2t afew days ago and now the "service engine light" comes on only when the remote is used to start it. I did the tach wire at the coil (white). I just did the basic starter - no locks. The tach gauge shows 0 when running off the remote - probably an acc that is not part of the main acc feed(orange). Is this common? . The prostart has 1 ign yellow ( I connected to the pink ign1) - maybe I should have connected it to the ign 2 (white) altough most GMs use the pink as the main ign wire. Truck runs fine even with the SES light on - hasn't gone into limp mode or anything strange

I am about to do a 98 dodge pick-up tomorrow and in comparing your wiring diagram to that from DesignTech and Bulldog, there are some differences ! Your site has tach as BLACK/ gray and theirs say gray/l.blue. Because these are at the PCM , I don't want to tap into a wrong wire. Your site and theirs also has the acc and ign 2 reversed which won't make a diff.

Any help and verifying of colors would be appreciated.

Thanks, Roy

for the chevy you need to power up an extras ignition wire . it is a white and right next to the starter wire in the connector under the dash.

as for the dodge the tach is gray/black and is at the pcm or you can also use any odd color injector wire .

Ok guys,

That dodge tach wire - is it black with grey stripe or grey with black stripe ??  Will it also need the second ignition wire powered up ??

Thanks for the help, Roy

The tach is BLACK witht he GRAY strip and the second ignition is BLACK with ORANGE strip. A relay is required if your RS does not have a designated (+) output second ignition wire. If it has a (-) 2nd igniton wire then a relay is required.
