ok i have a ma audio 4400 watt rms amp and i was looking to get 4 12's @ 4ohm each and i want to know if i could wire them down to 1ohm so i could get the full 4400 watts out of my amp. i was using the wiring tool on this website but i was a little confused so any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

no you would need (4) dual 2 ohm subs, or (4) single 4 ohm subs.

What model MA Audio Amp do you have?

what have you done to upgrade your charging and electrical system to not kill your alternator and battery, in a very short amount of time?

Jeff, it's MA... there's no need to upgrade the charging system for that! Wiring options for 4 dual 4ohm 12's - Last Post -- posted image.

You know as well as I do, it ain't 4400 watts! OK, 4400 watts at 25% distortion, 1Khz tone for 100mS...

But seriously, with 8 - 4 ohm coils, you will not be able to get 1 ohm. As Jeff said, you need SVC woofers, OR if you have to get DVC woofers, get dual 8 ohm woofers (if they exist). Also, even if you were to load the amp with 2 ohms, which IS an acheivable load with 4 DVC woofers, you would realize less than a 3dB difference (barely noticeable), your efficiency will improve, your damping factor will be twice as high, your distortion will be lower, the amp will run cooler, and it'll last longer.

Honestly, I don't understand why people INSIST on running an amp at it's maximum load, and I don't think I ever will...

I have the Ma Audio HK802SX Model. I actually haven't even installed the amp yet. I just ordered it last friday and I'm waiting for it to come in the mail. I'm pretty sure that I will have to upgrade my alternator because I have a 91 Geo Prizm hatchback with a little 1.6liter 4 cyl. I think the alternator in it is 100amps. What alternator would I need to but in order to achieve the full potential of my amp. Oh yeah and what's wrong with Ma Audio?

Actually you're a pretty lucky fellow to have a set of subs that achieve a final 2 ohms instead of 1. The amp will work for you without frying its guts out. Forget all that "full potential" nonsense; that's the talk of those who don't know any better. You build a first class box for those subs, get a lot of damping installed, pay attention to the details of gain-setting and tweaking and placement...and you'll achieve far greater (and louder!) results than the newb down the street who just wired four subs to 1 ohm, called it a day, and thinks he is achieving "full potential".

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Let's just say that MA is the BEST amp you can buy... at the swap-o-rama.

Another of the highly overrated brands, there are better products for about the same money.

For the 1100 bucks it sells for (at retail, I know...) you could buy the Eclipse DA7232, and get a REAL 2200 watts...

I had a boss who once said of AOL, and their 900 free hours trial periods: "You dont give away what people want." Same goes for a 4400 watt amplifier that they sell for 500 dollars. You will ALWAYS get what you pay for, my friend.

yea, i heard MA audio isnt that good either it over priced thats for sure

and you goin put 4 subs in a Small Geo? if it fits, the car will fall apart... no offense...
