I was sitting around with a piece of carpet underlay that got left after I carpeted my new place. Then I started thinking, how about this instead of Dynamat or something else for insulation.

Its kinda like a rubbery material, actually it is more or less rubber.

... yours thoughts on this folks ? Worth giving it a try ? It would be real cheap. (5sqft for around a dollar)

it's not dense enough, wouldn't really make sense. just be wasting money.

It will work to a degree. The problem is most vehicles already have some matting or foam underneath the carpet to absorb sound and heat. Carpet underlayment is thicker than dynamat. It might make it difficult to get the carpet and trim to go back into place correctly.

i tryed it on my old '90 ranger, but i didnt like it and ended up ripping it out, it was too bulky and just didnt look right. put as far as sound, i really didnt notice a difference from the stock padding
