car engine push button start/stop

I've been searching the forums for this, and found only 2 threads that were both locked!?! basically I'm looking at wiring in a start/stop button - a momentary button that when pushed will start the car, and then when pushed again will stop the car. I already have a start button wired into my car like this: 30: +12v constant 87: starter motor 85: +12v ignition (switched) 86: one side of momentary switch, the other side to ground are there any ideas as to how I can modify this to allow me to switch off the engine when the button is pressed again? thanks in advance

you could install a remote start like DEI that has a activation wire (to ground)... and install a push button switch that keeps the relays for the ignition and accessory on (like the radio on until door opened circuit in the relay section). you would have two buttons, but no need for a key.

You would still need the key to be able to turn the steering wheel.Kevin Pierson

i have a viper 5000 installed but no remote start, I understand the reply about not having a key to start, but I would prefer not to cut that out of the install. I would still need the key to undo the steering lock anyway. I appreciate the replies, I just hadn't figured on it being that complex of a job - it seemed feasible enough when I originally thought about it! I just wanted to add that extra WOW factor to the car!! I have also seen it done/fitted as an "add on" kit to the new BMW mini but I'm not sure if that kit could be fitted to another type of vehicle as the loom is already in place in that car, plus the cost of the kit from BMW would be astronomical anyway - I was looking for some sort of homebrew equivalent.
