Okay I can almost garentee that everyone here is going to say "Pyle is a pyle of doodie". However I bought one on sale for $79.99, one of their 12" Blue wave 1200 watt subwoofers. All I have right now is a 300 watt subwoofer panel amp and no car to install it in (for the moment), but I get pretty good output for being in a small (1.5cu) ported box and only 300 watts of power. Actually I was wondering, if I did go out and buy a 1200 watt amp to match the sub, would it go any louder? I can make my sub's excursion move pretty good, but would a 1200 watt amp give me any more volume?

So what's your experiance with Pyle subwoofers/amps? Are they doodie or are they good? what's your opinion on pyle? -- posted image.

if you match the rms ratings, they would be best for th esub and the amp wont be stressed. Pyle is a super entry level product. it may say 1200watts, but really you only maybe get 300TRUE power. i have used a pyle befor to punch some old subs of mine. they are not bad for the priices you can get them for. But for a real basshead, you gotta go spend to enjoy.

Pyle = Low-end entry-level gear. If you are careful setting it up and as the poster above mentions do NOT trust the ratings, it can provide noise for a while.

lol a REAL 1200 watt amp will toast that sub in seconds

the rms rating is 175 watts

1200 is a max number - basically meaningless. However, according to the specs and manuals on pyleaudio.com it looks like it has a 2.5" vc which puts it in line with a lot of budget 500-600w rms subs. FWIW - there are also enough t/s numbers to model it and find out precisely what size of enclosure/port would be ideal for it. That COULD be more productive than just giving it more power.

But to answer your question - not 1200, but 200-300w more might help a little.

I wouldn't either, but that along with having dealt with a lot of Pyle's sibling company's equipment and recognizing some pretty obvious parallels I don't think I'm going out on a limb with my estimation.

Considering it is the company Pyle...I'd say the 175 watts is fairly accurate.

I hadn't looked at the partsexpress link.

I was looking at the "1200w" pyle subs at pyle audio. There are several in the "blue wave" line, and I may have been looking at the wrong ones.

However the specs at PE don't match what pyle has on their site for that particular sub.

I'll retract my comments at least until we know specifically what model number this sub is.
