Whats up guys,
This has been driving me crazy for the past few days. I have a Rockford P1000-1bd and also rockfords 1F digital cap in my car. Well recently I heard the amp sparking because I thought the power wire was loose. Jumped in the trunk tightened everything down and heard it again. It only "pops" on larger bumps.
So I got back in there today to check it out again and I pulled the ground wire out and the amp still had power. ummmm... So I pulled the RCAs thinking it was getting ground from the RCAs themselves but the amp still had power. So I pulled the cap out and just ran the wires normal thinking maybe it had something to do with the Capacitor itself but still got the same thing. Its bugging the heck out of me.
Any ideas on what could be giving the amp ground? Maybe im overlooking something.
Regards,
Sean

The amp is defective.  I smell an EBay special, but if not take it back where you bought it.

hey, if ya got your amp screwed to the trunk, then its most likely grounding through the amps legs or mounting points

Yes, which means it is broken.  It's not supposed to do that.  amp working without ground? -- posted image.
