audi s4 convertible audio wiring

Hey guys,

I was hoping you could help me with this, I recently got an 05 Audi S4 convertible, I am installing a Pioneer Avic D3 replacing the factory installed Bose Symphony II. I want to use the Bose amp and speakers (at least for now) I have been doing searches all weekend trying to find correct color codes for the wiring I need. The closest I found was in a 12 Volt forum for an A4. Question is, does anyone know if this is the same for the S4 convertible and are the color codes the same for the ignition ACC, speed sense and dimmer wires? I bought the Metra harness and faceplate kit (for the A4) but the wiring does not coorespond to the factory harness.

I'm guessing I will need to tap some factory wires to get the job done but still don't know if the amp will work or even sound good.

Has anyone come across this before and do you have any advise?

What harness do you have?

I don't think you will have acc. at the harness either way. You will have to locate another location such as the cig lighter or under the dash. As far as audio goes, it should be fine. Similar to stock at least.

I have the Metra 70-1787 harness. As it turns out I found that there is a wire in the wrong place but it did not affect anything (there was nothing in the apposing factory harness) I guess I will have to probe around.
