On the Acura RSX 02 - 06 there is a red w/ white stripe key sense wire in a blue connector on the steering column where you put your key in the ignition. This wire is supposed to show ground when you insert your key.   This lets the car know that your key is in the ignition.
It provides useful/useless functions such as that annoying beeping noise when you leave your key in the ignition and open your door.
It also will not lock your doors with the stock key fob/remote if your key is in the ignition.
It also lets your after market alarm with immobilizer bypass know your key is in the ignition so that it does not show two keys to the ECU (the immobilizer stores the key code)so it will properly remote start.
So as you can see its a handy little wire now and again.
The problem I have is mine needs some chill meds. It thinks there is always a key in the ignition! When I open my door with no key in, I get a beep, so annoying!
Also with that blue plug in, my stock key remote will not work.
Again, also with that blue plug in, my remote start will not work, unless I disconnect the key sense wire, therefor not showing the ECU two keys(the bypass module stores the key code).
Does anyone know why my key sense may be over acting or maybe shorted out? Any real way to test this?

What voltage is on that wire with no key in the ignition ? What voltage is that wire with a key in the ignition ? Chances are the key cylinder is tweaked a bit and it sees a key in the ignition. May have to take apart the cylinder and clean it out.

Thank you for the fast reply. It shows 12.5 volts weather the key is in the ignition or not. Weather the door is open or not. It always shows the same, which according to the helms manual. It should not show voltage unless the door is open and the key is in. Any ideas how to check the cylinder without messing it up?

The wire should test 0 when key is inserted into the column and 12 volts when key is not in the ignition. Are you sure you have the proper wire ? Can you take a pic of the spot where you think the key sense wire is ?

I sure can, I will right now, but it is the Red wire with a white stripe on it. It is housed in the blue connector on the key cylinder.

The reason there is a bare spot on the wire, is that my immobilizer taps onto the wire there, however I completely disconnected that to make sure it was not the cause. There is no after market alarm or immobilizer connected at the moment.

As far as I know your not suppose to connect anything to that plug at all.  You see the green plug behind it?  All modules that I have seen get connect on that.  Also, the key sense wire is suppose to be on the left had side of the steering column.

Its supposet to be a 7 pin plug for the bypass like the green one.  DEI and Fortin share the same and I think bypass kits have it that way too.

Please correct me if I am wrong but I think it is that plug.

i got a 7 pin harness here too.

Pin 2 - ignition (yellow)

Pin 3 - Security Lamp (blue/orange)
Pin 6 - Data (RED / blue)

i use fortin pieces alot and only connected to 7 pin harnesses
