A friend of mine has a Compustar alarm/keyless entry/ remote start system on her 2004 Mazda Tribute which was professionally installed and programmed. Her battery just died and she had it replaced at Advance Auto Parts, since the battery switch her second remote transmitter no longer works and every thing she does (lock/unlock doors, remote start, etc) with the primary transmitter the system honks the horn. Does anybody have the programming keys or any idea how to make it learn the second remote and turn off the horn honking?

Compustar remote programming can be unlocked by cycling the key in the ignition 5 times consecutively, each within 5 seconds of the other. Do not turn all the way to start, just to the Run/On position. The parklights will flash once to confirm you have entered the remote learn procedure.
After they flash once, press the Lock button on the 1 way remote, it should click and the parklights will flash once, do the same for the 2 way remote. After a few moments the unit will flash the parklights twice to confirm exit of the transmitter learn routine.
The horn honking is not normal for a compustar, that you may want to have looked at by the shop that installed it. As far as I know, the comnpustar systems only honk the horn when Panic is initiated. You may have a defective system. Perhaps someone else on this board can shed more light on the matter if you found what model of Compustar she has.
